Pastor Mark T. Hawkins, Sr.

Greater Fellowship MissionMark T. Hawkins, Sr. was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 3, 1955. He is the son of Lucien and Lena Hawkins, of Hamilton, Ohio. He is also the brother of the late Lydia Sue Hawkins as well as the adopted brother of Renee Dewberry of Nashville, TN.

In 1963, young Mark accepted Christ and was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Hamilton, OH, under the leadership of Pastor Sloan Hodges. Brother Hawkins served as a trustee under the leadership of Pastor Norman L. Townsel, Sr.

In 1973, Mark graduated from Garfield High School in Hamilton, Ohio. He continued his academic schooling at Highland Park College, Highland Park, Michigan (1973 – 1975). In 1977, Mark graduated from Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Bro. Hawkins was joined in Holy Matrimony to Sharon L. Brooks on October 13, 1984. They are blessed with two wonderful children, Mark Jr. and Shalena.

In the fall of 1984, Bro. Hawkins joined the Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. H.M. Smith. Bro Hawkins was ordained in 1988 as a Deacon and served faithfully. In the summer of 1997, Deacon Hawkins announced his call to the Gospel Ministry. Since this heavenly calling he has preached the pure gospel message of Jesus Christ in whatever capacity God has directed.

January 1, 2006, Rev. Hawkins assumed the position as Interim Pastor of the Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Under the direction of Rev. Hawkins, the church began fasting and praying for a Shepard. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, on July 29, 2006, Rev Hawkins was called to Pastor the Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Hawkins has continued to preach and teach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ ever since.

Pastor Hawkins is currently employed as a Cincinnati Public School Teacher. Prior to working at Cincinnati Public, Pastor Hawkins worked as a teacher for the Hamilton Ohio City School System. He has begun graduate work toward his Master’s Degree at Wright State University (Dayton, OH) and Miami University (Oxford, OH). Pastor Hawkins has also continued his quest to enhance his Bible knowledge by attending Cincinnati Christian University.

Pastor Hawkins is known for his kind, gentle spirit as well as his willingness to encourage everyone he meets. His demeanor is a perfect example of the personality the Church should take on.

One of our Pastor’s favorite scriptures is “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18.

Church Secretary – Sister Ruth Herring

Greater Fellowship MissionSister Ruth Herring wears many hats. Sister Herring has served as the Church Secretary for over a decade and a half. In addition to her duties as the secretary, she also serves diligently as the President of the Usher Board as well as she is a Sunday School instructor for the teenage age group. When not attending to the earlier mentioned duties, you can find Sister Herring helping out with the Women in White activities.

No matter how big or small the task, Sister Herring can always be counted on for a helping hand. Sister Herring’s labor in the Church over the past couple decades has been greatly appreciated and definitely not gone without notice.
